To God alone the glory. This New Testament is the property of Maria Hegesin. She was born in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, on the 23rd day of April in the year 1820. Her parents are Peter Hege and his wife Catharina.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The fraktur consists of two pages from a book, both of which are framed by decorative borders and decorated by leafy vines with a flower in the upper portion. The main text in Fraktur is on the right side. It is divided into three sections by two borders. On the left side is a bird perched on a leafy tree with flowers. This bookplate has been removed from the book.
