A plate of earthenware with a mottle green slip and sgraffito decoration. It was made in the early nineteenth century by Johannes Neesz of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The inscription, translated, reads, "If I understand correctly, I will soon be coming to your wedding."
The stag and the fuschia flowers are in red on a green ground.
The plate measures 9 3/8 inches in diameter.
