Wie ein Blumm Ihn einem garten ist \ das Leben dieser weld, die wir am frühen mor \ gen haben, und am abend schon verwelkt wie \ ein nebel bald endsteht, und gleich wieder \ um ver geht, so ver gehet unsere zeit wir eilen \ nach der ewigkeit, da wir unser frisches Leben \ glauben stärke und verstant, unserm Herren \ übergeben, und Treten ihn ein besseres Land, \ da kein Trübsaal angst noch Leid, nichts als \ Lauter Trost und freud, Da wird uns der \ Herr Belohnen mit den schönen Ehren Cronen

Translation:
Barbara Hertzel was born on the 21st day of July in the year 1804 and was baptized on the following 16th day of September by Mister Jacob Senn.
As a flower in the garden, so is life in this world, which we have early in the morning and in the evening it is already wilted. Like a fog that soon arises and quickly disappears again, so goes away our time. We hurry toward eternity. There we give to God our refreshed life, faith, strength and mind and enter into a better land where there is no sadness, fear and suffering, nothing, but lots of comfort and joy. There the Lord will reward us with the beautiful crowns of honor.
When we have completed our course and have fought a good fight here in this world so that everyone can say “Christ’s blood and righteousness, they are my adornments and glorious dress with which I can stand before God when I enter into heaven.

Philip Schabalie], Die Wandelnde Seele, das ist: Gespräche der Wandelnden Seele mit Adam, Noah und Simon Cleophas (Philadelphia: G. W. Menz und Sohn, 1833). (PA GER Philadelphia 1833 Sch11) A detached note in the book states "Barbara Hertzell died Sept 9, 1881 aged 77 years 1 months 18 days."
