Ach wär mein Geist so rein so \ bilder loß und still, gleich wie ein weißes Blatt \ worauf man schreiben will! Bald würde Gottes Sohn \ durch seines Lichtes Strahlen, sein wunderschönes \ Bild in meinen Grunde mahlen.
Laß dich nur seiner Hand, und gib ihm Hertz und \ willen; laß seinen Zug dich stillen, so brechen alle Band. 
 


Translation:

O, if my spirit were so pure, so free of images and still like a white leaf on which one wants to write! Soon God’s son with the beams of his light would paint a beautiful picture in my depths. Let yourself be in his hand and give him heart and desire; let his guidance quiet you, and all ties will break.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script extends across the entire document. Below it are three spirals. The text is surrounded by a decorative border. This is a religious text on a loose leaf that is inserted in Das Ganz Neue Testament (Ephrata,Pa., 1787)  (PA GER Ephrata 1787 B471).   The name Christian Wenger is written on the first page.
