Translation:

Henrich Schmidt’s Testament and it was bought for him in the year anno 1795.

Lord, may you make it so that I will not just grow and prosper alone but be productive in all good things, to accomplish my best and forever be holy. Amen.

Hand-drawn; hand-lettered. The main text in Fraktur is in the upper portion of the document. Additional text in German script is within an inverted triangle below it. In the bottom half is a name in German script. The bookplate is in the back of Das Ganz Neue Testament (Ephrata, Pa., 1787)   (PA GER Ephrata 1787 B471).  Along the spine on the first page and in several places on the second and third pages is written “This book belongs to Henry Smith 1800.” Several additional pages in the front and back of the book are covered with doodles, signatures, places and dates, including Henry Smith, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania Washington, 1801, 1803, and "Henry Smith his hand and pen."
