This little book of questions belongs to me, Isaac Weber. For my instruction and God’s glory. January 26, 1823.

Category: Bookplate (Bücherzeichen)
Media Type: Manuscripts
Source: Rare Book Department
Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text in Fraktur is in the upper portion of the document. The date in Fraktur within a heart is below it. The heart is surrounded by several flowers, including one that is protruding from its top. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate is in the catechism Christliches Gemüths=Gespräch (Lancaster, Pa.: Henrich und Benjamin Grimler, 1811).  (RBD CB 1811 R676c)

A closely-related bookplate by the same hand, inscribed for Jonas Weber and bearing the same date of 1/26/1823, is in the collection of the Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College, accession number 1998.016.  This bookplate features a winged angel head and four trees at the bottom instead of the floral motifs flanking the heart.
