dieser \ Märtyrer \ Spiegel. \ Gehört dem Joseph Kropff in Mannheim \ Taunschipp in Lancaster County Anno 1766 \ die Seelen unter dem Altar die durch Tyranney \ gedötet war schreyen gott um Rach als Richter an. \ O Mensch gedenck doch stäts daran.
Ein schwacher glaub wird böß Bestehen, wen er gefordert \ wird zum Streit, der Muth ist klein, die kräffte Ver= \ gehen, er fällt dahin zu aller zeit; der Starcke kan \ mit lust Bestehen, und allen Pfeilen wiederstehen.
Wer nun den Preiß gedenckt zu kriegen, so auff das kämpfen \ ist gestellt, der Muß den Höchsten selbst Besiegen, dann \ Wird er siegen auch im Feld, Er wird die Feinde \ Gar zertreten durch Glauben Hoffen Lieben \ Beten \ Geschrieben d. 4th May Im 1766 Jahr.
Translation:
This Martyrs’ Mirror belongs to Joseph Kropff in Mannheim Township in Lancaster County, Anno 1766. The souls under the altar which were murdered through tyranny cry for vengeance to God as a judge. O man, always think of that.
A weak faith will endure poorly when he is required to fight. Courage is small, strength vanishes, he falls down at all times. The strong one can endure with zest and withstand all arrows.
Whoever then thinks of gaining the prize, which is set on the battle, he must himself defeat the highest; then he will also conquer in the field; he will trample the enemies through faith, hope, love, prayer. Written the 4th of May in the 1766 year.
