Thu ich heissen Christi Lehr mich recht thut \ weisen, welchen weg ich wandeln soll, der \ Ist mir gut und Ewig wohl, durch deinen \ geist Herr Lehre mich, damit ich recht er \ kennen dich, und Deinen Willen thu allzeit \ daß wan du komst ich bin bereit, geschrieben \ den 29ten tag January 1790 Bucks Caunty \ Lower Milford Taunschip
 


Translation:

This hymnal belongs to me, Maria Clemer I call myself, Christ’s teaching directs me well the path I shall go, which is good to me, and eternally well, through your spirit, Lord, teach me so that I may rightly recognize you, and do your will at all times, so that when you come I am ready. Written the 29th day of January 1790, Bucks County, Lower Milford Township.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script is in the center of the document. Above it is a decorative calligraphic spiral.
