"When this photograph was made the La Pierre House had just been taken over by the LaFayette Hotel, extreme left, and was soon to be remodeled to match that hotel. The building on the corner housed the Adams Express Company on the upper floors and a grocer at the street level."--OPEP, p. 173.
The hotel, with horse drawn carriages and people on the street. On the left, Lafayette Hotel, on the right commercial building housing both the Adams Express Company and E. Bradford Clarke family groceries. Street lights along sidewalk, policeman on corner.
