Workplace

The Workplace in Parkway Central Library offers group class instruction and one-on-one instruction by appointment in the use of these resources. Since 1987, Workplace has provided current information and resources on changing careers, job searching techniques, and emerging employment fields to help career changers and job seekers achieve their goals.

Languages and Learning Center

The Languages and Learning Center supports the individual literacy and learning goals of Philadelphia's adults. The Center offers programs and resources for Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, English-language learning and world-language learning. We also offer digital literacy and workforce development resources.

Next Level Learning Adult Education Classes

The City supports Next Level Learning by offering classes that include reading, writing, math, basic computer skills, high school equivalency preparation, and English for speakers of other languages. Topics include:

  • Reading, writing, and math
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • GED and HiSET prep
  • Basic computer skills

Adult learners can call the hotline at 1-833-750-5627 to learn more about classes and enroll. Calling during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) is best. During other times, please leave a message. And please let it ring a while – when possible, we try to have Career Navigators answer live, rather than quickly sending you to voicemail!

A new Free Library initiative that helps job seekers launch a career. Explore new career pathways, identify training programs that lead to family-sustaining positions, and make meaningful connections with employers and industry experts in Health Care, Information Technology (IT), Manufacturing, and Construction and Skilled Trades.
