How to Get a Free Library Card

A Free Library card is free to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes, or attends school in the City of Philadelphia. Anyone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania can also obtain a Free Library card without charge. Simply apply in person or by mail! Adults applying in person should either bring a valid Pennsylvania State ID or two forms of ID that have the same name and address. The full list of valid forms of ID, as well as what kids under 17 should bring, is available on the Free Library's website.” Please note that you will be asked for identification the first time you borrow physical materials with your new card.
