Courageous Kids: Wilma Exhibit
Children's Department at Parkway Central Library
In partnership with Philadelphia Doll Museum Forward, we now have on display Wilma alongside related library materials and activities. Wilma was made to honor four brave Black girls named Ruby Bridges, Leona Tate, Gail Etienne Stripling, and Tessie Prevost who challenged school segregation. The Wilma doll is just one of the Philadelphia Doll Museum’s unique collection of 300 Black dolls on display across the city, in places like this, that honor Black history and culture. Please visit phillydollmuseumforward.com to learn more and see related library resources online at https://catalog.freelibrary.org/Community/lists/91302/
The exhibit opens April 3 and has been extended through July 19, 2024 at Parkway Central’s Children’s Department, located on the ground floor of Parkway Central Library.
