Rare Book Department
This cutting can be dated to ca. 1530. The paper was made in Nackel near Posen and can be identified by the watermark of a crowned escutcheon containing a doubled cross.
This image shows the reverse of a leaf from a gradual with an historiated initial. This side of the leaf, the true verso, continues the liturgy for the feast of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, which begins on the front.
