Revolution at the Library Programming Returns

By Brianna V. RSS Thu, July 25, 2024

This summer, the Free Library of Philadelphia is excited to announce the return of the Revolution at the Library program, in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution.

This partnership includes engaging and educational programming that will bring the captivating stories and artifacts of the American Revolution to life for children and families throughout multiple Free Library locations in the city.

Revolution at the Library provides a unique opportunity to engage with the dynamic and diverse stories of the American Revolution, uncovering and sharing compelling stories about the diverse people and complex events that sparked America’s ongoing experiment in liberty, equality, and self-government.

Museum educators will visit various library branches, presenting fascinating stories through interactive sessions, replica artifacts, and documents. Programming is designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning, making history fun for everyone.

The program covers a range of intriguing topics, such as:

  • What’s Under the Museum: Discover the treasures unearthed during the archaeological excavation of the Museum’s site.
  • Life at Sea: Learn about the adventures and challenges faced by sailors on privateer ships.
  • Thinking Like a Historian: Encourage critical thinking by examining what replica objects can tell us about the past.
  • Spies: Delve into the world of espionage during the Revolutionary era.
  • Within These Walls: Explore the story of Washington’s War Tent and its role in the Museum’s current special exhibition.

Free Library branches participating in this summer’s program include Chestnut Hill, Greater Olney, Holmesburg, Northeast Regional, Richmond, and Wyoming libraries. See all Revolution at the Library events.
