This image of the dove of the Holy Spirit above God the Father and the Crucified Christ is known as the Throne of Mercy Trinity. It was a common image used to begin the French prayer known as the Seven Requests to our Lord because the prayer begins by addressing the Trinity. Along with the Fifteen Joys of the Virgin, this prayer was a common accessory text in fifteenth-century French books of hours.
