Notes: In this fully illustrated psalter, the historiated initials comment on the text of the psalm they illustrate. This initial Q begins Psalm 79, "Qui regis Israel intende...," (Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel) with God pruning the branches of a tree. The image alludes to the ninth verse of the psalm: "Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt, thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it."
