Stay Cool at the Free Library! Extended Hours for Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21
By Jenn D. Thu, July 20, 2017The City of Philadelphia has declared a Heat Health Emergency beginning at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20 and extending through 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 21.
Some Free Library locations will serve as cooling centers, where residents can get out of the heat and into an air-conditioned space with access to books, computers, wireless internet, and other library amenities.
The following Free Library locations are cooling centers and will be open for extended hours on Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21:
- Frankford Library, 4634 Frankford Avenue – open until 7:00 p.m. both days
- Greater Olney Library, 5501 N. 5th Street – open until 8:00 p.m. Friday
- Haddington Library, 446 N. 65th Street – open until 7:00 p.m. both days
- Lucien E. Blackwell West Philadelphia Regional Library, 125 S. 52nd Street – open until 8:00 p.m. both days
- Oak Lane Library, 6614 N.12th Street – open until 8:00 p.m. both days
- South Philadelphia Library, 1700 S. Broad Street – open until 8:00 p.m. Friday only
