Now that the new school year is up and running, LEAP would like to welcome students back to school! LEAP provides a safe and supportive afterschool environment for school-age patrons grades K – 12, complete with homework help, computer access, and literacy enrichment activities galore.
Here's just some of this year's LEAP Program Highlights!
Check out Crafternoon Saturdays at Walnut Street West Library for projects like zine-making and the chance to design your own analogue meme.
But Wait, There’s More for Teens at Parkway Central Library!
The Field Teen Center
Check out the brand new Teen Center at Parkway Central Library for cool clubs, hands-on learning, and ample space to meet up or chill for teens ages 12-18. There's also plenty of new Young Adult fiction, comics and graphic novels, manga, and nonfiction to browse and borrow.
From relationship basics to budgets, learn the life-skills you need with Adulting 101 on Thursday afternoons.
Join the Sexuality and Gender Acceptance Club (SAGA) to celebrate National Coming Out Day! Anyone interested in supporting queer communities is welcome to attend.
Drop in for Open Studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., for a 2-hour session with the Field Teen Center’s Maker Mentor to work on drawing, observation skills, and experiment with various mediums and techniques. Young artists of all skill levels are welcome and materials are provided!
Or share your prose or poetry with peers and hone your voice at the Creative Writing Club.
