Notes: Item 1, top: "American Fire Insurance Company" Policy of Insurance. Original policy of insurance of the American Fire Insurance Company, signed by Charles S. Riche. Engraved illustration of an allegorical woman standing on a pedestal with an eagle at her feet. In the background, firemen manning water pumps are fighting a warehouse blaze. Others are removing sacks and barrels from the building. Manuscript portions and signature written in brown ink. The policy is made out to Charles S. Riche, who paid the sum of 2000 dollars to the insurance company. Original certificate heading, cropped and separated from body of document. 22.9 x 17.2 cm.
