About New Paradise Laboratories

New Paradise Laboratories (NPL) is an ensemble-based performance company that explores innovative means of expression to bend and reshape the art of theater. Founded by OBIE award-winner Whit MacLaughlin, it sees theater as a perceptual lens into another world—an alternate reality—fraught with beauty and unpredictability.

New Paradise Laboratories works both inside and outside of conventional theater spaces. Sometimes it installs performance into unlikely places: on the internet, in smartphones, or in a library. NPL practices a collaborative model of creation that incorporates designers and performers as devisers.
