Title: The Carriers of The Press to their Patrons.
Additional Title: Reliques of William Penn in Philadelphia in 1864.
Media Type: Scrapbooks
Source: Print and Picture Collection
Notes:

Broadside probably published late in 1863 by John Forney, publisher of The Press, Philadelphia, for distribution on or about New Year's Day, 1864.  Newspaper carriers were not paid by the publishers but depended on donations by members of the public. This broadside acted as a reminder to patrons of The Press.

Includes six titled vignettes of scenes associated with William Penn surrounded by a decorative border. The central image depicts Penn's Treaty with the Indians. The view of Penn's manor, below, is flanked by two native americans smoking peace pipes.
