President Millard Fillmore is shown being greeted by dignitaries and military personnel at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. A crowd has gathered to see the President, some waving from windows of a nearby building. The funnel of the steamship which brought the President is visible in the background.

Item pdcc00176, bottom right [image dimensions 12.0 cm x 8.9 cm]:

A depiction of the constitutional convention held in the Pennsylvania State House, Philadelphia between May and September of 1787. George Washington, who was elected President of the convention, is shown signing the new Constitution before the delegates from various states on September 17th.

Caption includes : Hartford. Published for subscribers. 1824.

The obverse of the seal is emblazoned with a sailing ship, a plough and three sheaves of wheat all flanked by two ears of corn. The reverse depicts Liberty holding a wand topped by a liberty cap, a French symbol of liberty. In her right hand is a drawn sword. She is trampling upon tyrrany, represented by a lion. The entire design is encircled by the legend "Both Can't Survive."
