Shows a scale used for weighing gold and silver by the Bank of North America, the nation's first banking house. Founded by Robert Morris in 1781, the bank began operations from a store on the 300 block of Chestnut Street, owned by Tench Francis, a merchant who became the bank's first officer.  The counting room was restored and put on display in the Atwater Kent Museum, where this picture was taken.
