Halftone reproduction of a photograph showing a row of commercial high-rises on the east side of South Broad Street. In the foreground at left the richly detailed facade of the Betz Building is visible. Designed by William H. Decker, the office building was built in 1891 for John F. Betz, a German-born brewery owner and real estate speculator. The building was demolished in 1926 to make way for the PNB bank building. The adjoining building is that of the Girard Life Insurance, Annuity & Trust, followed by the Real Estate Trust and North American buildings. On the right is a partial view of the West End Trust Building.
