Item 1, top:  Image, titled "Philadelphia," of the Delaware River, seen from the Camden, NJ, shoreline.  In the foreground are three men standing on an undeveloped section of the Camden shore, on what appears to be a damaged dock.  Featured on the river are a steamship with two large cargo sheds and a horse-drawn wagon on the left, a sailboat on the right, and a schooner at the extreme right; additional rowboats, sailboats, and schooners are seen along the distant shoreline. The densely built-up Philadelphia Harbor is depicted, approximately from Queen Village on the left to Northern Liberties on the right.  Item 2, below, describes some of the structures in more detail. Image drawn and engraved by John Serz for an unidentified publication, 21 x 11 cm, 1852.

Item 2, bottom:  Article titled "View of the City of Philadelphia," with a view of the Delaware River, seen from Kaighn Point, on the Camden, NJ, shore.  The foreground shows two men relaxing on the Jersey shoreline, and a small schooner in choppy waters nearby.  Other sailboats, schooners, and a paddle steamer are shown on the river. The text details many structures along the Philadelphia shore, from the ship houses of the first Navy Yard (at Washington Avenue) on the left, to the steeple of Christ Church (at Market Street) on the right.  In between are described several factories, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and the Jayne Building (an imposing commercial building).  The text with image measures 24.5 x 17.5 cm.  The image alone, drawn by Nicholas Devereux and engraved by Worcester & Peirce for an unidentified publication, measures 24.5 x 12 cm, 1851.
