Item 1, spanning pages 50-51: Evening Bulletin two-page photograph, showing the efforts to clear the train tracks, following a freight train derailment near Paoli, PA. The title reads, "Wrecking Crew at Scene of Paoli Freight Derailment." The caption below the image reads, "MAIN LINE BLOCKADE--View of the Pennsylvania Railroad's right-of-way east of Paoli today after wreck of west-bound Camden-to-Harrisburg freight. Derailed tank cars blocked all four tracks, tying up commuter trains in the Paoli yards and delaying east-west passenger traffic." This photograph shows crews actively clearing the tracks, assisted by two construction cranes. Fortunately, the three tank cars were empty, and, although the accident caused significant rush hour delays, all four obstructed tracks were cleared by 10:00 a.m., after only three hours. Photographic reproduction for The Evening Bulletin, 41.5 x 22.5 cm, April 7, 1948.
