Notes: Item 2, lower left: Shows a set of three sports and social clubs, identified with captions. The Germantown Cricket, founded in 1854, was one of the four principal cricket clubs in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The clubhouse, located at 5140 Morris Street in the northwest section of the city, was built in 1890 and designed by the noted architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White. The Columbia Club was a popular social club built in 1893, located at the Northwest corner of Broad and Oxford Streets. It was designed by architect John Ord. Notes: Item 3, lower right: Illustration of the Schuylkill Navy Athletic clubhouse with carriages parked in front of the building. Built in 1895 after designs by noted architect Willis G. Hale, the building stood at 1626-1628 Arch Street. Shortly after its opening the club changed its name to the Athletic Club of Philadelphia. This distinctive building was demolished in 1972.
