Notes:

Item 1, top left:  Image of the front elevation of the cottage of William H. Getzmer, the railroad agent responsible in 1846 for obtaining a charter for the Philadelphia & Trenton Railroad, which led to the development of the Tacony neighborhood.  Lithograph for an unidentified publication, 14 x 12 cm, ca. 1850.

Item 2, top right:  Image of the residence of chemical manufacturer William Weightman, located at the SE corner of 18th & Walnut Streets.  It has since been demolished, date unknown.  Reproduction of a photograph for an unidentified publication, 7 x 11 cm, undated.

Items 3 and 4, center left:  Two photographs of Allibone House, mansion of banker Thomas Allibone, at the NW corner of 39th & Walnut Streets.  Both photographs are dated 1860, one showing a closeup and one a distant view of people standing in front of the West Philadelphia mansion.  Each photograph measures 8 x 8 cm.

Item 5, center right:  Image of the mansion of railroad executive and businessman Matthew Newkirk, located at the SW corner of 13th & Arch Streets, in Center City.  It was built by architect Thomas Ustick Walter in 1835. In 1876, the St. George Society bought the mansion from Newkirk, renamed it "St. George's Hall", and used it as their headquarters until the building was torn down in 1903.  Cyanotype, 10 x 11 cm, undated.

Item 6, bottom right:  Image of the residence of locomotive manufacturer George Burnham, built in 1886 by architect Theophilus Parsons Chandler, Jr., in the Romanesque style.  It is located at the NW corner of 34th Street & Powelton Avenue, in West Philadelphia's Powelton National Historic District.  Since 1966, it has served as the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house of Drexel University.  In 1972, it was added to the Philadelphia Historic Register.  Lithograph by J H Brown, for an unidentified publication, 13.5 x 7 cm, 1887.
