Item 1, entire page: First half of a 1949 Sunday Bulletin article,* detailing the life and residence of Mrs. Koerting-Fisher, at 6904 Wissahickon Avenue, Mount Airy. The full title is "At 70, She's Busy with Business, Gardening and Art." The Adelbert Fischer House was built in 1909, by architect Milton Medary, Jr., in the Art Nouveau style. Iron worker Samuel Yellin added a noted metal chandelier in 1923. At age 70, Mrs. Fisher was still president of her late father's engineering firm. She was an avid gardener and art collector, and owned many works by wood sculptor Wharton Esherick. The upper image in this article shows Fisher relaxing in her home; the lower image shows furnishings built for her by Esherick.
