Item 1, top: Image from "Can You Recall This Bit of Old Philadelphia?," a regular feature of the Evening Public Ledger. This building was a silk mill, run by Mrs. Thomas Harrop.  It was located at the corner of 43rd & Chestnut Streets, alongside a now-extinct stream. Reproduction of a c. 1895 photograph for the Evening Public Ledger, 13.5 x 9.5 cm, c. 1925.

Item 2, center:  Image of a mansion at 45th & Chestnut Streets. It was purchased by Cardinal Dougherty, who opened the West Philadelphia Catholic Girls’ High School on this site in 1927.  Reproduction of an undated photograph for an unidentified newspaper, 11 x 11.5 cm, c. 1925.

Item 3, bottom: Image from "Can You Recall This Bit of Old Philadelphia?," a regular feature of the Evening Public Ledger. The caption refers to this property as "farmyard and house of Good Intent Village."  It was located at 47th &Chestnut Streets.  Reproduction of an 1894 photograph for the Evening Public Ledger, 11 x 6.5 cm, c. 1925.
