Item 1, top:  Continuation of a 1949 Sunday Bulletin article,* detailing the life and residence of Mrs. Koerting-Fisher, at 6904 Wissahickon Avenue, Mount Airy.  The full title is "At 70, She's Busy with Business, Gardening and Art."  The Adelbert Fischer House was built in 1909, by architect Milton Medary, Jr., in the Art Nouveau style.  Iron worker Samuel Yellin added a noted metal chandelier in 1923.  At age 70, Mrs. Fisher was still president of her late father's engineering firm.  She was an avid gardener and art collector, and owned many works by wood sculptor Wharton Esherick.  The image shows an exterior view of the back of the property, which was functionally the entrance.  Text and reproduction of a photograph for a Sunday Bulletin article by reporter Gertrude Benson, 26 x 19.5 cm, 5/29/1949                          * Note:  The article begins in the previous item, #pdcc03111.

Item 2, bottom left:  Caption reads, "Lakeside View of 'Walmarthon,' magnificent Walton estate at St. Davids and another Main Line landmark which is up for sale."  Image shows a front view of this lavish Spanish-Renaissance style mansion, built for leather manufacturer Charles Walton by architect David Knickerbocker Boyd in 1913.  The entire 41-acre property was sold to the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1951, establishing the faith-based Eastern Baptist College.  It was renamed Eastern University in 2001, and the mansion is now the university's Walton Hall.  Reproduction of a photograph for an Evening Bulletin article, 13.5 x 13 cm, 9/2/1950.
