Item 1, top: Caption reads: "Farmhouse in the City--It Dates Back to Stone Cabin of 1693." This property, known as the Buttonwood House, would have been on the south side of Northwestern Avenue, near Ridge Avenue, in Roxborough. This image is from a 1948 newspaper article, showing the expanded residence, with 1801 and 1941 additions to the original 1693 cabin. Reproduction of a photograph for an Evening Bulletin article, 26 x 8 cm, 11/13/1948.
Item 2, center: Two images from the above newspaper article. The upper image is an interior view showing the living room of the farmhouse in 1948. The caption explains that the living room is part of the 1801 addition, and is connected to what remained of the original cabin. The lower inset image shows an exterior view of the farmhouse in 1941, before another structure was connected to the other side of the cabin. Reproductions of two photographs for an Evening Bulletin article, 21 x 18 cm, 11/13/1948.
