Halftone reproduction of a photograph shows traffic halted to allow a steam locomotive, pulling freight cars, to cross Broad Street.

Caption reads: Gates are down at Broad and Callowhill streets, where the Philadelphia and Reading Railway tracks crossed. The tracks now run under the bridge at that point. The building at the extreme right was the Reading Passenger station. At the left is the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The view, made in 1890, was contributed by Theodore H.
