The building in the centre of the picture with the mansard roof is the West Philadelphia Friendly Inn, a temperance lodging house. Next door, at 3104, is a restaurant and saloon. Also on the block is Magee's Ale House, M. Donig Men's Furnishing Goods, and Deveney & Hitzeroth Ironworks. Horse-drawn carriages and carts line the curb.
