Item pdcc00464, bottom left [image dimensions 7.5 cm x 12.5 cm]:

Shows Market Street at the intersection with 33rd Street teeming with people and traffic outside an exhibition building and the adjacent Pennsylvania Railroad Station. Held in October 1885, the Novelties Exhibition of the Franklin Institute turned out to be a failure, unlike the Institute's popular Electrical Exhibition of the previous year. The Pennsylvania Railroad Station at thirty-second and Market was erected in 1876 to accomodate the crowds to the Centennial Exposition. It was destroyed by fire in 1896.
