View looking east across the Schuylkill River showing traffic crossing the covered bridge with the city in the distance.  A man on horseback is driving his cattle up the ramp of the bridge; other people are crossing the bridge on foot. A rowboat passes downstream, and barges are moored by the wharf where lumber is piled.

Boastful advertisement for Stephen F. Whitman & Son, candy and chocolate manufacturer, depicting their factory at 12th & Market Streets. Shows well-dressed people on the sidewalk. The facade of the building is adorned with the company's name emblazoned on a signboard above which is flying a large American flag.

Item pdcc00510, bottom left [image dimensions 9.0 cm x 8.0 cm]:

Shows the cavernous interior of the former Pennsylvania Railroad Station set up for a meeting with evangelist Dwight L. Moody. A large banner with a message of greeting is draped on the wall behind the stage. Although John Wanamaker had purchased the abandoned station in 1876 to expand his retail clothing business, he allowed the evangelist to use its facilities, before the Grand Depot opened for business the same year.

View of the intersection at 38th & Market Streets, showing a horse-drawn Fairmount Park trolley making its way up 38th Street. A carriage turns the corner in front of a grocery store. In the distance a sign announces the Knickerbocker Coal and Ice Company.

View of the northeast corner of Market Street showing a trolley car just below the intersection with 38th Street. A sign on the side of the trolley indicates the Pennsylvania, New York and Baltimore RR Depots. On the end wall of the buildings beyond is a painted sign advertising Snellenburg & Co. Clothing. 5th. South and Passyunk Ave. Other painted signs are for the Knickerbocker Ice Co. Railroad tracks on 38th Steet cross the cobblestones in the foreground.
