Colonel Jack Haverly (1838 - 1901) successfully managed the United Mastadon Minstrels, an enormous troup, which he toured across the country between 1878 and 1884.  In some cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Philadelphia he toured to theatres he owned.

This extraordinary building opened in 1876 as Kiralfy's Alhambra Palace, later becoming the Broad Street Theatre. It was demolished in 1937.
