Reproduction of a print showing the Quaker Alsmhouse which fronted Walnut Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. The brick building was built in 1729 to augument the original alsmhouse cottage (shown on the left) which was founded in 1713 to support the needy members of the Society of Friends. The larger structure provided food, housing, and work for the indigent until 1841 when it was demolished.
